If you are applying to have an item considered by the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC), you should:
- Notify the PBAC Secretariat of your intention so you can receive general advice on how to best present information to the PBAC and to confirm specific deadlines and other data cut-off dates.
- You may also be encouraged to start early discussions about any usage and pricing issues with the Drug Utilisation Sub Committee (DUSC) and the Economics Sub Committee (ESC) secretariats.
- Your item must be included on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods or have a positive recommendation for its inclusion before your application can be made to the PBAC.
Handy hint: For submissions, follow the guidelines, use suitable scientific language, and avoid excessive jargon. Arguments based on solid scientific data are most likely to influence outcomes.
You can find contact details for the PBAC, ESC and DUSC on the PBS Contacts page
