Drugs and manners of administration that meet the 18 or 30 month clocks (for an originator removal calculation)

The Minister may determine an originator brand for a brand of a pharmaceutical item listed on the F2 formulary. The Minister must have regard to whether, when the brand of the pharmaceutical item was first PBS listed, it was in the F1 formulary of administrative Combination Drugs List (CDL). For certain pharmaceutical items, calculations are performed with and without originator brand data, and the calculation resulting in the lowest new price is applied.

This page lists those drugs and manners of administration (MoA) that will have a weighted average disclosed price calculation performed for the 2026 April Cycle and whether or not the drug/MoA meets the 18 or 30 month clock for an originator removal calculation for the 2026 April Cycle.

Originator removal calculations may apply to price disclosure data submitted for the data collection period commencing 1 April 2025 when a drug has been on F2 for at least 30 months (2.5 years), with:

• calculations for originator removal being at least 36 months (3 years) after the drug has been on F2; and
• the reduction day for originator removed calculations being at least 42 months (3.5 years) after movement to F2.

Once a drug/MoA has met the 30 month clock it will have an originator removal calculation performed in each price disclosure cycle thereafter.

Originator removal calculations may also apply earlier than 30 months for some brands. If brands of a drug and manner of administration have:

• been listed on the F2 formulary for at least 18 months; and
• there have been no price disclosure reductions in that period; and
• one or more generics are listed during the data collection period of a cycle

the originator brand data is removed for the calculation of a WADP if it results in a lower price.

The early removal of originator brand data (at 18 months) will operate in addition to the existing 30 month clock, whereby the originator brand data is removed after the drug in the brand has been on F2 for at least 30 months.

Drug/MoAs that have not met the 18 or 30 month clock may satisfy the criteria for a future cycle. Updates will be published in April and October of each year.
