On 1 August 2026, nitisinone (Orfadin®) will become available on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) for the treatment of hereditary tyrosinaemia type 1 under certain circumstances.
Access to nitisinone for new patients under the Life Saving Drugs Program (LSDP) will cease from 1 August 2026, with transition arrangements in place to facilitate access through the PBS for patients currently undergoing treatment.
