Update on access to goserelin 3.6 mg implant (Zoladex Implant™)

Further to its request to delist goserelin 3.6 mg implant (Zoladex Implant™) from the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) on 1 November 2026, AstraZeneca Pty Ltd (AstraZeneca) has advised that from 1 November 2026, patients will be able to access the 3.6 mg Zoladex Implant™ through the Zoladex Continuity Program. Under this program, AstraZeneca will supply the medicine at no cost to eligible patients.

AstraZeneca has advised that all patients prescribed 3.6 mg Zoladex Implant™ prior to 1 November 2026 will be eligible to access the program. AstraZeneca has also advised that the program will support ongoing access for new patients who require treatment with goserelin 3.6 mg implant after 1 November 2026.

Until 31 October 2026, the 3.6 mg Zoladex Implant™ will continue to be available through existing prescribing and dispensing arrangements. Patients should continue obtaining their medicine through their usual treatment pathway until that date.

AstraZeneca has advised that healthcare professionals will receive further information regarding patient registration and enrolment in September 2026. Patients who are currently receiving treatment with the 3.6 mg Zoladex Implant™ or who may require treatment in the future, are encouraged to discuss ongoing access arrangements with their treating healthcare professional.

Patients seeking further information about the Zoladex Continuity Program can contact AstraZeneca Medical Information on 1800 805 342 or at MedInfo.Australia@astrazeneca.com.

The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing continues discussions with AstraZeneca regarding access to the 3.6 mg Zoladex Implant™ and expansion of indication for Zoladex 10.8 mg implant to include breast cancer patients that are hormone receptor positive. In addition, the department is working with clinical experts, the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC), other pharmaceutical companies and stakeholders, to consider suitable alternatives for all patients using 3.6 mg Zoladex Implant™.

The department will continue to provide updates to affected stakeholders as they become available.
