At its September 2026 intracycle meeting, the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC) recommended changes to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) restrictions for 14 low-cost antidepressants. The recommended changes would broaden PBS-subsidised access to these medicines to better reflect contemporary Australian clinical practice.
The antidepressants considered were citalopram, clomipramine, desvenlafaxine, duloxetine, escitalopram, fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, mianserin, mirtazapine, moclobemide, nortriptyline, paroxetine, sertraline and venlafaxine.
