Generic Medicines Working Group meeting Communique – 29 November 2018

The Generic Medicines Working Group (GMWG) met in Sydney on 29 November 2018.
Attendees included representatives from the Generic and Biosimilar Medicines Association, the pharmaceutical industry and the Department of Health.
The GMWG were provided an update on the work of the PBS Transparency and Efficiencies, Biosimilar Policy, Uptake Drivers for Generic and Biosimilar Medicines and the Pricing Supply and Viability Subgroups. The GMWG agreed to combine the Pricing Supply and Viability Subgroup with the Uptake Drivers for Generic and Biosimilar Medicines Subgroup.
The GBMA provided members with an update of the Biosimilar Education Grant. The Department provided an update on proposed cost recovery changes for 2019-20.
Members noted the outcomes and actions from the previous GMWG meeting.
The GMWG will reconvene in early 2019.
