Pharmaceutical Benefits Pricing Authority Annual Report 1998
Preface
This is the eleventh annual report of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Pricing Authority covering the operations of the Authority for the year ended 30 June 1998.
The report provides information on pricing matters dealt with by the Authority together with statistical data, tables and figures summarising aspects of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) affected by decision and recommendations taken by the Authority during the year under review.
Tabling requirements
It is a requirement of sub sectin 34C(3) of the Acts Interpretation Act 1901, that in the abasence of specific requirements to the contrary, the annual report shall be laid before each House of the Parliament within 15 sitting days of that House after the day on which the Minister receives the report.
Structure of report
The report is divided into four Chapters:
- Chapter 1 provides basic information about the Authority's genesis, membership and financial arrangements (PDF 8 KB)
- Chapter 2 addresses the factors considered by the Authority for pricing of pharmaceutical benefts made available under the Government's Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme administered by the Department of Health and Family Services (PDF 31 KB)
- Chapter 3 deals with activities under the Government's Pharmaceutical Industry Development Program administered by the Department of Industry, Science and Tourism (PDF 21 KB)
