Submission to Post-Market Review of PBS Medicines Used to Treat Asthma in Children

Submission 2 - The Royal Australasian College of Physicians

The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) welcomes the invitation to provide a submission to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) for the Post-Market Review of Medicines to Treat Asthma in Children.

The RACP supports the submissions provided by the following speciality societies:

  1. The Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand (TSANZ)
  2. The Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA).

 Further, the RACP supports the views of the following Foundations and groups:

  1. The Sydney Children’s Hospital Network
  2. National Asthma Council
  3. Asthma Australia

In addition, the RACP supports the detailed 2010 Position Statement on the use of Corticosteroids in Children submitted by TSANZ.

The RACP looks forward to the outcomes of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS): Post-Market Review of Medicines to Treat Asthma in Children and would welcome the opportunity to work with the PBS on the project’s next steps.
